Reflexology
With over 30 years of experience, Michelle has helped countless clients find relief through the healing power of reflexology. She qualified in 1993 from the Philip Salmon School in London and spent many years at the Dolphin House Children’s Clinic in Brighton, where she worked with both children and adults, addressing a wide range of health concerns. After a break of several years, Michelle has been drawn back to reflexology, reigniting her passion for this deeply therapeutic treatment—and, in particular, her love of working with feet.
Now, she is excited to once again offer her expertise to help clients restore balance, find relaxation, and enhance their overall well-being.
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a therapeutic treatment based on the principle that different points on the feet, hands, and ears correspond to various organs and systems in the body. By applying gentle pressure to these reflex points, reflexologists aim to stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, promote relaxation, and restore balance.
How Can Reflexology Help?
Reflexology can help with a wide range of health concerns, including stress, anxiety, headaches, digestive issues, and chronic pain. It is particularly effective in promoting deep relaxation, improving circulation, and boosting overall well-being. Many people find it a valuable treatment for managing everyday tension and maintaining a sense of calm.
What to Expect at a Reflexology Session
A reflexology session typically lasts about one hour. At the beginning of the session, I will take a brief consultation to discuss your goals for the treatment, as well as gather a short medical history. This helps me tailor the treatment to your individual needs and ensures that I can provide the most effective care.
During the session, you will be comfortably positioned on a massage couch in my treatment room. If I am visiting you at home, I will adapt the setting, using a sofa, reclining chair, or even a bed to ensure you're relaxed and supported.
The treatment focuses on your bare feet, as reflexology works by applying gentle pressure to specific reflex points that correspond to different areas of the body. While most of the treatment should feel deeply relaxing, you may experience some tenderness in certain areas. This is a normal response, especially if a particular reflex point is connected to an area of tension or imbalance in the body.
Generally, the treatment lasts around 50 minutes of hands-on work. Throughout, I'll guide you through the process, ensuring you're comfortable and at ease. Reflexology is a holistic therapy, so after the session, you may feel a deep sense of relaxation, increased energy, or a shift in your overall well-being. Many people find the experience to be calming and rejuvenating, and it's common to feel a sense of balance or harmony after a treatment.
If you have any specific questions or concerns about your reflexology treatment, feel free to ask, and I’ll be happy to explain more or adjust the session to better meet your needs.
